Creative Writing Department
About The Creative Writing Department:
Students in the Creative Writing Program study all genres and styles of writing including: poetry, short fiction, playwriting, journalism, biography and autobiography. They learn from talented teachers who genuinely care about the success of the students. Creative writers also get a chance to interact with and collaborate with singers, dancers, actors, visual artists, techies, and musicians.
OCSA’s Literary Magazine:
The Tenth Muse
This upcoming publication will showcase the talents of writers and artists alike. We are currently seeking submissions of original poems, short stories, essays, photographs, comic strips, and other artwork. Submit your original pieces to gonzalek@osceola.k12.fl.us with “Literary Submission” as the subject.
Yearbook:
Artisan
The Osceola County School for the Arts 2007-2008 Artisan is filled with ideas, dreams, and countless hours of hard work and perspiration in the attempt to celebrate our traditions and passions.
This year’s volume contains brilliance and humor, as we look back both pictorially and in print at OCSA’s most successful year yet. You can still place an order for this year’s Artisan, by contacting our Yearbook Sponsor, April Isaacs, at (407) 931-4803 or by sending e-mail to isaacsa@osceola.k12.fl.us.
Kaleidoscope Café
The Creative Writing Department hosts monthly open mic nights that provide students and their guests with an opportunity to express themselves on stage. Poets, comedians, singers, dancers, actors, and musicians have all taken advantage of this chance to get their voices heard. This year’s Cafes are scheduled for:
Works in Progress:
Hotel Miramar
a collaborative collection of short stories all set at a fictional beachside hotel.
Kaleidoscope Café Presents:
Link to Excerpts: The Proper Method to Prepare a Lobster and Six Short Plays
