Osceola County School for the Arts earns a spot in the 2009 U.S. News & World Report's Best High Schools
Osceola County School for the Arts has earned a prestigious place in the Silver category of the 2009 U.S. News & World Report's Best High Schools ranking. The 2009 U.S. News & World Report America's Best High Schools methodology, developed by School Evaluation Services, a K-12 education data research business run by Standard & Poor's, is based on the key principles that a great high school must serve all its students well, not just those who are bound for college and that it must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show that the school is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators.
High School Jazz Band Accolades at the Lakeside Jazz Festival
The Lakeside Jazz Festival is one of the largest jazz festivals in
Florida, and included 35 competing jazz and combos. Kris Campos,
tenor saxophonist with the Osceola County School for the Arts (OCSA)
High School Jazz Band was named the "Outstanding Jazz Soloist"
for the entire festival. The OCSA High School Jazz band also received
Superior Rating in Jazz Music Performance Assessment. This is the
second consecutive year the band has received a Superior Rating
at District and State Jazz MPA. Bill Henley is the director for
the jazz band.
Monthly School Advisory Council (SAC) Meeting
The SAC meets every second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 AM in the
Osceola School of the Arts (OCSA) Media Center.
